1600BRASS LOCOMOTIVE NAMEPLATE: "PLUTO." 25" x 7" with small extended section to centre to which was originally attached a Royal Engineer's coat of arms in Longmoor Military Railway style. As carried by the LMS 0-6-0 350HP diesel-electric loco № 7061 built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1935 works № D56 to Lot 134. Following trials at Willesden and Crewe South the loco was loaned to the WD in 1940 and sent to Elham Valley Railway, Dover in 1941. The loco was officially withdrawn by LMS in November 1944 and transferred to the WD who utilised it in France in 1945 and following a short period in store at Ghent went to Utrecht in September 1945 becoming Dutch Railways NS 521. Sold to SNCB at Antwerp in April 1946 and numbered 230.02 at Brussels in October 1952. Withdrawn by SNCB in February 1965 and cut up. Repro coat of arms accompanies this lot to give an idea how it would have originally appeared. Traces of blue paint on edge of nameplate. £610
