Information for those wishing to enter items for auctionAcceptance of items for auction
We are now accepting items for our next and subsequent auctions. These are held four times per year in March, June,
September and December so, unlike some auctioneers, there’s never long to wait before we can sell your items. Email us
with a brief description of the item or items you wish to enter and we can then give you an assessment.
Delivery of items for auctionItems may be delivered to us by arrangement at our address in Bedford or by post/courier if preferred. Alternatively, you may deliver to us by arrangement on auction day at Derby. We can also arrange transport to collect large collections or heavy/bulky items from most UK addresses. Once handed over to us, all items are fully insured and held in security controlled premises.AdvertisingWe will advertise your items in the many specialist magazines and journals where we place monthly advertisements. We will photograph the items (we aim to illustrate 100% of the lots in the catalogue) and undertake all research necessary to provide a full catalogue description. The catalogue goes out to thousands of subscribers throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the World. Website traffic statistics are often quoted in huge numbers that mean very little to how the site is accessed. So rather that tell you how many 100,000 hits the website has each month we will use the simple statistic that over 12,000 visits are made in a month. Your item will be guaranteed maximum worldwide exposure.Probate & Insurance valuationsWe are happy to undertake probate and insurance valuations.ReservesA reserve price, agreed between seller and auctioneer, will be placed on each item sold.Commission RateThe commission rate for most items is 11.75% (including VAT at the standard rate). There are no other hidden charges to pay (cataloguing, photography, storage, insurance, etc., all free), although we do make a minimum charge of £5.88 (including VAT) on the rare occasions an item fails to find a buyer. Further information is available on our entry form.Entry FormClick on the buttons below to load a printable PDF version of the entry form.PaymentVendors will be settled by cheque within 10 days of the close of the auction. It makes sense to contact Sheffield Railwayana Auctions.
